Tricia loved everything there was to love about the sport of rodeo. From the time she was a little girl, she could be found in the saddle, chasing her dreams. She competed in rodeo queen competitions and proudly represented her passion as a contestant for Miss Rodeo Utah. Rodeo wasn’t just something she did—it was part of who she was.
After marrying Jason and making Cokeville her home, Tricia poured that same passion into our community. She was always willing to lend a hand, volunteering wherever she was needed to help make the Cokeville rodeos a success. She believed in this community and in the young people who called it home.
When her niece, Kallie, discovered her own love for horses, Tricia was right there beside her. Kallie spent countless miles riding on the front of Tricia’s saddle, learning not only how to ride but also what it meant to love the western way of life. As Kallie’s passion for rodeo grew, Tricia made sure she had every opportunity to learn, improve, and chase her dreams.
While her sons may not have shared the same love for rodeo, they certainly shared their mom’s love of horses. If there was a pack trip to take, a trail to ride, or time to spend in the mountains on horseback, Tricia was all in. Some of her greatest memories were made riding beside her boys, proving that for Tricia, it was never just about the rodeo—it was about the horses, the adventure, and the people she loved most.
Seeing the incredible talent in our community, Tricia became a driving force behind starting the weekly Cokeville Rope & Runs. She knew our kids needed a place to grow, compete, and showcase their talents. Because of her vision and dedication, countless young cowboys and cowgirls have had the opportunity to build confidence, friendships, and lifelong memories.
Then came Sara, and the bond between mother and daughter was something truly special. Their shared love for rodeo was undeniable. They spent endless hours in the saddle together, traveling miles upon miles, talking strategy, encouraging one another, and creating memories that will last forever.
Tricia’s legacy is far greater than the buckles won or the miles ridden. Her legacy lives on in every child she encouraged, every volunteer she inspired, every rodeo she helped organize, and every life she touched. The Cokeville rodeo family is stronger because of her love, her vision, and her unwavering willingness to serve.
Today, it is our privilege to honor Tricia. Thank you for believing in our youth, for loving this community so deeply, and for giving so much of yourself to the sport you cherished. Your footprints are forever etched in this arena, and your spirit will continue to ride beside every cowboy and cowgirl who enters it.
Your legacy will live on in the hearts of this community for generations to come.
Trudy Hatch is being honored today for her countless hours of donated time as the secretary of the Cokeville Stock and Saddle Club. She did this for approximately 8 years with a smile on her face. She did anything that was asked of her.
Scott and Trudy Hatch moved to Cokeville, Wy in 1997. They put three of their children in Cokeville schools. They planted their family and started growing their roots right away.
Trudy started substituting at the High School and Elementary in the early 2000's. Fifteen years later she applied for a full time job as a para educator at the High School working in the Special Education Department. In approximately 2015 she volunteered to join the Cokeville Stock and Saddle Club. She jumped in with both feet and became the secretary. The Club was so pleased to have her help and energy. She spent a lot of time going to businesses and knocking on doors to obtain donations and prizes for the non-profit rodeo club. She helped keep time at the rodeos and took tickets when needed. She often helped take calls from contestants that wanted to participate. For approximately eight years she kept pushing along with a smile. Thank you Trudy for all of your time and effort. You are loved by many! We are pleased to present to her a buckle to show our appreciation for all her hard work.
